It is important that DEERS records get updated when personal
eligibility information changes. This includes changes in military career status; addresses;
and family status (marriage, divorce, birth, and adoption) etc.

Illinois
|
FamilyCare offers health
care coverage to parents living with their children 18 years old or
younger. FamilyCare also covers relatives who are caring for children in
place of their parents.

| KidCare
|
A state program that offers health care
coverage to children, pregnant women and their babies or helps in paying premiums
of employer or private health insurance plans.

Life Insurance Program |
Life insurance programs developed to provide insurance
benefits for veterans and servicemembers who may not be
able to get insurance from private companies because of
the extra risks involved in military service, or a
service connected disability.

Group Life Insurance/Veterans Group Life Insurance
|
SGLI is a program of low
cost group life insurance for servicemembers on active duty, ready
reservists, members of the Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration and the Public Health Service, cadets and
midshipmen of the four service academies, and members of the Reserve
Officer Training Corps.
VGLI is a program of post-separation insurance which allows servicemembers
to convert their SGLI coverage to renewable term insurance. Members with
full-time SGLI coverage are eligible for VGLI upon release from service.

TRICARE
|
TRICARE is the Department of Defense's worldwide health care program
for active duty and retired uniformed services members and their families.
TRICARE consists of TRICARE Prime, a managed care option; TRICARE Extra,
a preferred provider option; and TRICARE Standard, a fee-for-service option.
TRICARE For Life is also available for Medicare-eligible beneficiaries age 65
and over (effective Oct. 1, 2001).
