We must put an end to youth violence. Too many bright futures have been cut short as we continue to lose innocent lives to senseless gun violence. We have seen the tragedy that it wreaks on families and on entire communities. Ignoring this problem comes at an increasing and devastating cost. We need to stop this violence that is plaguing our cities and we need to stop it now.
That is why I created Community Investment Works. This program will address several key factors contributing to youth violence in Illinois, including the lack of employment opportunities, lack of safe social opportunities, and disengagement from the community. Community Investment Works will provide comprehensive solutions by creating more job opportunities for youth, increasing the number of available after school programs, and investing in communities to rebuild and increase safety.
